My previous passport was issued from another country, does that mean?
Have no doubts that valid Indian Passport irrespective of issuance from an Indian Consulate abroad, or, from a Passport issuing authority in India is governed by a single and identical set rules framed by the Government of India. There is no distinction based on place of issuance. Now, presuming you have a legitimate Indian Passport for Adult issued to you by say Indian consulate in Canada and you wish to renew it in India or even in Canada. Irrespective of your choice of renewal in India or abroad, based on your duly submitted application, You will be issued with a renewed Passport valid for ten years(for an Adult). Understandably, the validity duration differs in the case of a Passport for a Child or in special circumstance for example an emergency travel permit for a specified validity. These guidelines are nearly universal. Let me assert in all earnestness based on extensive lifetime experience, Indian Passport rules and related provided services through professionally managed Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) (Centers) in India, and, competent Consulates staff / appointed Agents are second to none in the world.
