My US passport expired when I was 18.?
My US passport expired when I was 18. I'm 25 today, Can I renew it? If so, should I contact my family in the U.S.? I don't talk to them since 2014, so I'ld like to renew it by myself; I'm born in Italy, but my father is American; I've got my old passport. Contrary to what other Quorans have asserted here, you *cannot* renew a U.S. Passport that was issued before you turned 16. Based on the information you provided, your current passport expired when you were 18, which means that you got it when you were 13. You need to apply for a new passport using form DS-11. (See US Passports and International Travel - Renew by Mail ; see also US Passports and International Travel - Apply in Person.) Question 21 on form DS-11 specifically asks for information about your expired passport. As long as you have the required paperwork, you do not need to contact your family.
