I want to go to another country for a funeral but my passport has?

Your question: I want to go to another country for a funeral but my passport has been expired since 2018 and there isnt enough time to renew it. Under these circumstances, could I still go? Where do you live? In the USA, the State Department (pre-COVID-19, so I do not know the current rules), will make a passport at certain locations in less than a few hours in an emergency. I had this situation happen to me about 26 years ago. I live in San Jose, CA and my mother living in Pakistan unexpectedly went into a coma due to her heart condition. I bought a plane ticket, took it and new forms, and rushed to the Passport offices in San Francisco. They made a new passport for me in about 3 hours. I flew overseas the next day and made it there in time for my mother to come out of the coma for a few more days and speak to me before she died. If I had not been able to get there in time, I would have regretted it forever! Side story: while still alive, my mom also insisted I meet a woman she had met, while I was there for that short trip, about 14 days. My aunt and sisters pushed for it to happen, after the funeral that woman is now my wife we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversay a few months ago!
